Lead-Safe Services of Greater Cleveland is dedicated to protecting children from lead poisoning by making their home environment lead-safe.
Lead-safe and lead-free are not the same thing. Whereas making an older home lead-free is very expensive and somewhat impractical, there are multiple pathways to make a home lead-safe.
Our process starts with identifying the immediate sources of lead dust and other lead risks. Then we generate multiple options to both address these sources and to clean the surfaces where lead dust has settled. These options range from more temporary measures (that require ongoing maintenance and visual inspections by owner) to permanent solutions. We will also discuss which lead risks merit the most immediate attention, based on child safety concerns. Finally, we are sensitive to the fact that the choices an owner makes are informed by financial constraints as well as how long you plan to own / live in your home.

Our services
lead-safe ADVISORY SERVICES — our least expensive and most informative service
For clients who are homeowners, parents and/or caregivers, we focus on creating a home environment that is safe for children. We start by asking about the ages of your children and where they like to play.
Then we walk around the home with you, indoors and outside, to do a visual inspection. We pay special attention to those locations where your children eat, sleep, watch TV, play, and spend time with you. We identify potential lead hazards. If you so choose, we can conduct paint, dust and soil analysis to test for the presence of lead, or if it is an older home, we can presume the presence of lead-based paint.
Then we discuss with you various approaches to address each lead hazard. We will also discuss which lead risks merit the most immediate attention in order to protect your child/children from lead poisoning, based on their ages and where they are most likely to come in contact with lead dust and lead-contaminated soil.
Finally, the entire conversation is informed by financial considerations and how long you plan to own / live in your home.
CLEARANCE exams & RISK ASSESSMENTS — technical reports that comply with all ohio standards
We perform lead clearance examinations and lead risk assessments. A lead risk assessment is typically performed to identify all current lead hazards and identify multiple approaches to address each hazard prior to hiring a contractor to perform work. A lead clearance examination is typically conducted after a contractor completes all work to check that the work was done properly and the entire work site was thoroughly cleaned.
